TEACHING AND CREATIVE PROPOSALS
2010 Hispanic Writers’ Week in Boston, Literary Workshop
The Hispanic Writers Week is an event that has been taking place
every year for the last 16 years. Published Hispanic authors from all
over the world are invited to participate and teach creative writing to
two selected Middle Schools. At the end of the week, there is a closing
reading coordinated by the writers-teachers at Massachusetts University.
Juan Navidad was invited to come from Spain as part of this group of writers-teachers
in an effort to support the bilingualism of the students and to share
his work as an author.
2010 Taught at ALCE (Association of Spanish Language and Culture) New
York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and Washington.
Taught Spanish as a Foreign Language at various schools and developed
motivational reading activities. Also performed book making workshops
that encouraged student’s creativity and interest in reading and writing.
2009 III Latin Hispanic Book Fair organized by the HLCCNY (Latin
Hispanic Cultural Center of New York)
Invited to participate at the Book Fair. Juan Navidad returned to New
York in September to present his book Sentences not to stop thinking
in the subway.
2009-2010 The Teacher Training Centres in Hellin (Albacete), Calahorra
Cartagena (La Rioja) Taught a workshop called Boosting the school
library which taught librarians, teachers, parents and students
how to take advantage of such a space in order to promote its best use
while motivating reading.
2009 Taught creative workshops of Spanish cabezudos figures in Íllora
(Granada) and Caraquiz, Uceda (Guadalajara)
These are hands on workshops that teach children and adults how to make
figures out of recyclable materials. Plenty of Spanish Festivals include
costumed figures known as cabezudos, or “Big-Heads.”
2009 In New York and New Jersey developed a variety of workshops Activities
to encourage reading in Spanish and Spanish practice as a Foreign Language
in various Elementary schools in New York and New Jersey.
Taught a creative workshop of Spanish cabezudos figures in Susan B. Anthony
in Jamaica, Queens’s school, with three groups of bilingual students in
English and Spanish. Also taught his Tale Stimulation Workshop
for adults at the Center of Cultures in Queens, organized by the Hispanic
Cultural Center of New York, an activity supported by Assemblyman Joseph
R. Peralta of New York City.
2009 O’clock, a Training Centre in Zaragoza (Spain)
Taught a workshop on How to tell, write, choose and adapt tales
for children.
2008-2009 Several activities in public libraries in Spain
Storytelling, literary creation workshops, and so on.
2008-2009 In CCOO de Béjar
Trained employed and unemployed workers on the use of the Internet
and Web Design.
2008 Cabezudos workshops in various parts of Spain and also in Geneva
(Switzerland)
Developed workshops on cabezudos (Big-Heads) production and handcraft
creativity with recycled paper.
2008 Provincial Public Libraries of Malaga Province (Spain) Taught a course
for Provincial Public Libraries under the name of, How to move your
public library created to motivate the use of public libraries
with a lively and community based approach.
2008 Promoted by the Cabildo Insular of Tenerife.
Performed several Equal Opportunity activities for schoolchildren of the
ESO and Bachillerato (12 to 18 years) in five secondary schools.
2008 A course promoted by the Cabildo Insular. (Canary Islands, Spain)
Taught the course, Discover the network world for teachers
of Tenerife.

Spanish to improve and promote the dialogue between civilizations.

Gave the course Discover the World Online Search for resources and
creation of interactive activities.

Taught the workshop Stories based on ethic values from a gender
perspective (a Dinamiza Equal European Program)

Developed dynamic, motivational workshops based on creativity for Parents'
Schools, and coordinated innovation projects.

Created his own company to teach teachers, laymen and women, librarians,
cultural centers' staff, institutions and associations how to promote
creativity in the classroom and in any other environment.

Teaches courses for hired and unemployed workers, like Office Tools,
Web design and Photo Design.
2005 Teacher training for teachers in various centers throughout Spain.
How to choose, adapt, create and tell stories based on ethic values or
Don Quixote in the classroom as well as several courses
for Associations or Librarians like, How to move your public libraries,
others directed to Organizations as the Red Cross like, How to write
and tell Jokes and Storytelling.

Technical publishing that goes one by one all facets of the book from
the idea to the shelf.

2003-2004 Guijuelo Radio
Held radio programs at a local radio station like, Coffee with words,
In times of Maricastaña and Books for the Sea
spaces of solidarity, folk music, literature, human rights...
2003 Founded Literary Coast, a Publishing company.
The first published work was an audio book Tribute to a friend. Almuenza
Folk Festival 1998-2003, with texts about this festival and a collection
of Celtic and folk songs.
2003 Béjar and County Canal a Media Company Radio, Television and Printed
Media
Had a daily morning radio program on Radio Béjar, wrote a daily County
news page in the Tribuna de Salamanca, a province newspaper. Acted as
journalist, announcer, editor, voice over, camera and reporter for the
three media.
2003 Taught several training courses

2000-2003 Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library (cervantesvirutal.com) at
the University of Alicante.
Vice director of the Marketing Area. The most important digitalization
project in Hispanic languages, dedicated to user-oriented sections, usability
and teaching. Juan Navidad created, developed and designed emblematic
sections such as, The Librarian, the Virtual Chat, or the Meeting Point,
which were quickly taken as standards on the net.
2000-2003 Revitalization of rural schools in the Region of Murcia and
Alicante.
Both the Virtual Library as their own, conducted number of training courses
in creative writing teachers, school Dynamism, Reading activities, Enhancement
of libraries use, etc.
1998-2000 Abaco Translations for Berlitz Translation Services in New York.
Translator from English to Spanish of technical texts. Texts included
Chrysler cars manuals for sale in Spain and Latin America (operations
manuals, instructions, post-sale letters, etc. were also part of the translated
materials.)
1996-1997 Radio Vitoria
Writer and broadcaster with several literature and music radio spots like
Coffee with words, When night falls and the special 366 days of poetry.
1992-1998 Teacher of English
Group and one on one lessons. Taught at Institutes, academies and privately.
1994-1998 Freelance Translator
Translated all kinds of texts literary, scientific, thesis, etc. and simultaneous
and consecutive translation courses and conferences.

among others...
Literary and Artistic Activities
In 1991 forms Cálamo, a College literary magazine in the
Basque Country University, and six issues of the journal, conducts outreach
literature, gatherings and a heartfelt tribute to Miguel Hernandez 1992
coinciding with 50th anniversary of the death the poet.
In 1997 with Blanca Flores forms Primera Obra, a Writers Association,
which carries out many activities to leave their mark on the city of Vitoria.
In 1997 also in, conducts photography exhibitions titled Inside
Perspective along with his friend Txus Fernandez de Alzola, A
study of the psychology of citizens of the capital through the patios
(backyards) of the neghborhoods.
1998 Created the Entrecomillas group born out of a literary contest. It
was a multidisciplinary group conformed by people of all ages and social
strata. Collected two book shipments one for Cuba and another for Ecuador.
Organized recitals, edited books and publications, held cultural marathons,
street theater, etc.
1998 Photo exhibitions in Alicante under the title Field Amplitude
with Eva C. Luna.
1999-2000 Created Libelo Group and later the Audiovisual
Platform Challenge.
2002 Coordinated the initiative with Costa Literary authors
and artists from all over Spain and soon after launched a Publishing project
with the same name.
2003 Created Sierra Literary project and developed eight
radio programs to encourage reading through this medium and a website
in mp3 format.
The same year he also created, Factory of Legends in Béjar (Salamanca)
with a number of activities monologues, storytelling, recycling workshops,
radio, etc.

Achievements and recognitions
El 1995 substantial Aid to literary creation of the Spanish Ministry of
Culture that allows you to write the poetry collection Una pareja de tapas
duras, which was published the year 1999.
It’s 1997 winner, with Blanca Flores, his partner a contest of ideas for
the creation of companies with Kultur Club - Cultural Space, a local cultural
activities bar.
In October 2002 Travelled to the Dominican Republic invited by the City
Council of the National District of Santo Domingo and the Embassy of Spain.
Held the course Revitalize school and municipal libraries
in the Cultural Center of Spain in Santo Domingo. Held several meetings
with poets and writers, gave three times a Book making workshop
at schools. He was received by trustees (mayors) of various localities,
by the Assistant Secretary of State for Culture, Andrew L. Matthew, the
Director of the National Library, Diogenes Cespedes and a number of Dominican
writers. He was named Distinguished Visitor in the towns of Mao and the
Romana.
2003 The magazine La Botica of Vitoria, with a circulation of 3,000 copies,
dedicated the number 5 to Entrecomillas group, formed five
years earlier by Juan Navidad in the city of Vitoria.
2003 the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces in the contest
reading animation projects in municipalities with fewer than 50,000, awarded
Sierra Literary project to encourage reading through the
radio and the Internet with 200 books are already part of the Municipal
Library of Béjar with introducing the project.
2005 Was appointed co-director of the Foundation and Evelyne Marc Abel,
with headquarters in Altea (Alicante) intensely dedicated to creating
an artistic pulse of young European authors. .
